Hello, old friend…

You may think it’s a bit strange that I’m going to write a blog post about how much I love my toothbrush, but let me explain…

About 4 years ago, my dentist convinced me to purchase a Sonicare toothbrush.  I instantly fell in love with that toothbrush, and my smile never looked whiter!  My teeth were clean and shiny, my gums were healthy, and I really did feel like I just had a professional cleaning every time I brushed my teeth!

Then about 6 months ago, I was awoken in the middle of the night by a horrendous noise.  Sonny (the toothbrush) had for some reason turned on by himself and wouldn’t turn off, no matter what I tried!  Plus I couldn’t figure out how to open the darn thing to remove the battery.  Unfortunately, this continued over the course of a few nights, and then Sonny just died completely.  So sad…unfortunately the warranty on my Sonicare was also expired, so there was nothing I could do to fix him.

I switched over to using a manual toothbrush, and my smile was just not as bright.  I kept thinking that I should invest in a new Sonicare, but didn’t want to spend the cash.  But, really, what’s more important than your smile?

So, when I saw a great deal at Costco (which included TWO toothbrushes and one of the new “Diamond Clean” heads), I couldn’t pass it up!  And I’m telling you, I’m so glad to have my Sonicare toothbrush back in my life.  I gave my husband the second toothbrush, and he has commented about how remarkably clean his teeth feel, too!

Here are a few of the great features of the Sonicare:

  • An interval timer beeps 4 times while you’re brushing your teeth, so you are encouraged to properly brush all four quadrants of your mouth (top left, bottom left, top right, bottom right).
  • The model I purchased has a “sensitive” mode if your gums are sore or if you’ve had your teeth whitened, as well as a  “clean and white” mode.  Sonicare’s site says you can use “2 minutes of Clean mode with an additional 30 seconds of White mode to focus on your visible front teeth.”  Your teeth will be up to 2 shades whiter in 2 weeks!
  • My Sonicare came with a UV sanitizer charging case, as well as a travel charger.  My husband doesn’t care about the UV sanitizing feature, so he’s using the travel charger.  I, on the other hand, am somewhat of a germ freak, so I LOVE the idea of my toothbrush head being totally sanitized every time I charge the Sonicare!
  • The Diamond Clean toothbrush head has “diamond shaped, medium stiffness bristles to effectively yet gently scrape away plaque.”  I feel like this head polishes my teeth more than the regular Sonicare toothbrush head.  It leaves my teeth feeling super clean!

Trust me when I tell you that the Sonicare toothbrush is worth every penny of the investment.  I’m sure my dentist would agree.  (Oh, and FYI – this review is totally my own opinion and I haven’t been compensated in any way by Sonicare.  But hey…folks at Sonicare…send me a few more of those Diamond Clean heads 😉 )

Office Inspiration

What I have:

An empty room (formerly a living room) with unpainted french doors laying on the floor.  Shades are drawn to protect the room’s nakedness from the neighbors.  Unusable, empty space.

What I’m dreaming of:

A beautiful office in soothing shades of gray, lemon and espresso.

Walls like this:

A bench like this:

Oh, and a big, oversized comfy chair for reading:

Sweet little throw pillows:

And a soft rug under my feet:

I can’t forget a charming desk in dark wood:

And the perfect chair to match:

I can already feel how productive I would be, working in such a lovely, sunny space!

…Can you tell I’ve been hanging out on Pinterest??  😉

40 Days of Spring Cleaning

In preparation of the observance of Easter, Lent is traditionally a 40-day period where some people decide to fast and focus on practicing self-discipline.

What better time to work towards my goal of an organized home in 2012?

I have decided to do 40 days of spring cleaning, beginning this Wednesday 2/22 and running through Easter!

I put together a list of the 40 tasks I’ll be completing around the house.  These tasks apply to the rooms in my home, but they may be a help to you too, if you decide to follow along!  Click the link below to download!

40 Days of Spring Cleaning

OH, and I will be using products from my new Shaklee Get Clean Kit, which I will also be reviewing along the way (more to come on this):
